The river is in flood again after heavy rain.  There should certainly be plenty of water for the start of the season for those wishing to venture out.  Cormorants and shags have been seen frequenting the Town Pools, harbour and further upriver suggesting that the movement of peel has begun.  No adult fish have been seen to date.

The river is dropping after a reasonable flood.  Over the weekend the river was in excellent condition for spinning and worming yet no one was fishing.  I saw a fish attempt the Top Pool weir on the weekend and another was seen turn in the bottom pool so it is worth a try.  With more rain on the way there is a good chance of an early big sewin or Spring salmon—reports are in that several have been caught on other local Welsh rivers.

My apologies for not updating in some time, however, there has been little to report so far this season.  The river has been low for most of the time with little water to stimulate the first real runs of fish.  There are sewin in the pools but not many.  There has been very little fishing effort, particularly by the locals and I have not heard of any fish of note being caught.  At the time of writing we have had a long day of steady rain and it is set to continue overnight with showers tomorrow.  This should freshen the river and may bring some fish in.

There have been reports of an otter in the Town Pools which has frustrated some anglers who have travelled to fish the river only to find the pools disrupted by this young but sociable individual.  It is not known if it has set up residence in the pools but it was seen on several successive nights.  Please let us know if you see him/her.
