One warm June evening in 2000, sea trout angler and author, Jonathan Jones visited the Aeron for an evening’s fishing with a view to writing an article on the river for Trout and Salmon magazine.  Shane Jones and Carl Scourfield accompanied Jonathan for the evening, starting off with a fact finding interview and a drink at the Monachty Arms Hotel.  On arriving at the riverside at 10:30pm there were no anglers fishing.  The river had risen slightly the day previous and there was a hint of colour remaining which had possibly put the regular night fly anglers off.  It was a shame that it had as great sport was enjoyed.
